The Blurb
Former PSHCE teacher and acclaimed YA author James Dawson gives an uncensored look at what it’s like to grow up as LGBT. Including testimonials from people ‘across the spectrum’, this inclusive book explores everything anyone who ever dared to wonder wants to know – from sex to politics, how to pull, stereotypes, how to come-out and more. Spike Gerrell’s hilarious illustrations combined with funny and factual text make this a must-have read.

The Review
I am going to start this review with the following, this book should be given to all teenagers (or anyone for that matter) that is nervous or scared about telling the world they are LGBT*. Ideally we would live in a world where no one feels scared about telling the world who they love and although we are more accepting it’s still classed as a taboo.
When I asked for a copy of This Book is Gay for Christmas I did not know that it was non-fiction (stupid, I know), but after reading I don’t care what genre it fits into because it’s so inspiring. The book is designed to help educate the ill informed and also (more importantly) to help those that belong to the LGBT* community.
I can’t comprehend how being LGBT is such a bad thing to some people because at the end of the day as long as a person is happy, what else matters?
James, Spike and Hot Key Books should be proud of what they have achieved and on producing this book it has helped an awful lot of people.
