Alexa Holland’s father was her hero—until her shocking discovery that she and her mother weren’t his only family. Ever since, Alexa has worked to turn her life in a different direction and forge her own identity outside of his terrible secrets. But when she meets a man who’s as damaged by her father’s mistakes as she is, Alexa must help him.
Caine Carraway wants nothing to do with Alexa’s efforts at redemption, but it’s not so easy to push her away. Determined to make her hate him, he brings her to the edge of her patience and waits for her to walk away. But his actions only draw them together and, despite the odds, they begin an intense and explosive affair.
Only Caine knows he can never be the white knight that Alexa has always longed for. And when they’re on the precipice of danger, he finds he’ll do anything to protect either one of them from being hurt again…
Thanks to Clara for sending me a copy to read and review.
Hero will be the first book I’ve read of Samantha’s and although I’ve heard amazing things about her work, I was cautious of the Erotica. I’m no prude by any means, but after the Fifty Shades hype I just cannot be bothered. Sex scenes are sometimes unrealistic and it puts me off wanting to read any Erotica novel, but with Hero I enjoyed it.
Hero primarily focuses on the relationship between Alexa and Caine and they settle for a friends with benefits type of relationship and you can definitely see that the pair have lots of chemistry.
I often find that in some Erotica novels the female main character is a wimp and seeks reassurance from the men to feel confident. However, Alexa was a bad ass and took no one’s crap and I loved that about her. She wasn’t afraid to be herself and more so when others treated her like rubbish.
Hero was sexy, fun and emotional, and it definitely kept you on your toes. I have to say I will happily read more Erotica novels and of course, many more of Samantha’s.
One thing I disliked was how Caine and Alexa hated each other one minute and then all of a sudden they ended up in bed together – I know this happens, but it annoys the hell out of me! However, that was my only gripe and I really enjoyed the rest.
