The Blurb
Shelby Foxworth lost her husband. Then she lost her illusions..

The man who took her from Tennessee to an exclusive Philadelphia suburb left her in crippling debt. He was an adulterer and a liar, and when Shelby tracks down his safe-deposit box, she finds multiple IDs. The man she loved wasn’t just dead. He never really existed.

Shelby takes her three-year-old daughter and heads south to seek comfort in her hometown, where she meets someone new: Griff Lott, a successful contractor. But her husband had secrets she has yet to discover. Even in this small town, surrounded by loved ones, danger is closer than she knows–and threatens Griff, as well. And an attempted murder is only the beginning…

The Review
Thank you to Clara from Piatkus Books for sending me a copy to read and review.

Shelby Foxworth seems to have it all, a lovely husband and a gorgeous daughter, but is it all how it seems? Her loving husband Richard turns out to be a compulsive liar and she only finds out after his passing – not the best time to find out. Why did he lie and why did he have so much debt against him? Poor Shelby is stressed and decides to move back to her home town.

When she travels back home she is instantly enveloped in happiness from her family. I have a strong connection to family love and acceptance and I’m very close with my immediate family and I spend a lot of time with them. It’s great that she could rekindle the relationships even with a few people being a little angry with her. She needed to relax with people she loved, and more importantly she needed protection after finding out all about her husband.

The beginning was awfully slow and I kept trying to push the pace along – not easy considering I didn’t write the novel, but you get what I mean. The only thing that kept me going was to find out who this mysterious private detective was all about and why her husband Richard continually lied to her.
