Thank you to Piatkus Books for sending me a copy to read and review.
Playing Dirty as the name suggests is very dirty and definitely leaves you hot under the collar. I was incredibly cautious about starting this novel because I’m not a fan of Erotica. I’m no prude and naturally engage in the fun stuff, but I tend to stay clear of this genre because usually the main characters have no emotions and just have sex for the sake of having sex. I’m not saying you have to be in love to have sex, but to just jump into bed with anyone is not my favourite.
Anyway, Playing Dirty was raunchy, fun and full of excitement. The novel is dual narrated by main characters, Cassidy Whalen and Shaw Matthews, who are both fighting for a very important sports client. They immediately have a love-hate relationship and you know straight away they are going to get it on, a little predictable, but not too irritating.
Shaw was a big head and quite frankly, not someone that I found attractive. He seemed to abuse his position to try and get what he wanted (I guess he was in a high powered role) but it still struck me that he was a bit of an ass. Cassidy probably didn’t fair that much different. She had the same traits as Shaw and admittedly just wanted the new client, no emotional attachment. However, given that there were a few character negatives, the chemistry between Shaw and Cassidy was electric. They may not have been the most emotional compatible, but hell there sex live must be smoking hot.
Playing Dirty gave me hope and I’d probably consider reading another Erotica novel after reading this one.
