The Blurb
Breakup Doctor Brook Ogden has spent the last year sifting through the fallout from the disastrous decision that led to her unconscious uncoupling with boyfriend Ben Garrett. Despite advising her clients you can’t be friends with an ex, she and Ben have somehow begun to stitch together a friendship—one Brook hopes is slowly turning into more. That is, until Ben introduces his new girlfriend, Perfect Pamela, a paragon of womanly virtues who is everything Brook is not.

While Brook navigates her newly volatile emotional life, an unwelcome surprise shows up on her doorstep: the ex-fiancé who broke her heart two years ago—one month before their wedding. Between her ex’s desire to rekindle their attachment, her best friend Sasha’s unexpected crisis, and her own unsquelchable feelings for Ben, Brook finds herself questioning the personal progress she’s made in the last two years—and threatened with the highest-stakes Breakup Doctor failures she’s ever faced.

The Review
Thank you to Henrey Press for the copy of Heart Conditions to read and review.

Heart Conditions is third in the Breakup Doctor series and you can read my reviews of book 1 – The Breakup Doctor and book 2 – Beside Manners by Phoebe Fox by clicking the links. I would recommend reading the previous two novels to get the back story of characters and story lines.

Brook returns with a slightly mended heart, but she desperately wants to see if she can rekindle her romance with Ben. Just when she thinks she has answers, her ex-finance makes an appearance and admits he made the wrong decision by walking away. Although it was interesting to find out more about Brook and her emotional state, I often found that she did not follow her own advice; she was awfully indecisive and I desperately wanted her to make a decision – more because I wanted her to be happy. I think I found myself screaming ‘Please just pick one and put your efforts there – is that too much to ask?’. I’m not sure she listened, though, how rude? hehe.

One thing that stood out for me was Brook’s relationship with doggy Jake, I loved him. They say a dog is a man’s best friend and they’re not wrong there. I know this is more of woman’s best friend, but even so, Brooke loved Jake and he made her happy. I think she should ignore all men and just have a happy life with friends, family and doggy!

All in all, Heart Conditions was a book that you could read in one sitting and feel content afterwards. Phoebe always delivers a fantastic piece of work and I love her writing style.

Book one, The Breakup Doctor, is on sale for 99p this week (Feb 8-14) – grab yourself a copy and start the series! Purchase on Amazon.
