Review Policy

You’ll find a selection of questions below on how I operate when it comes to reading and reviewing books. If you’re ever in doubt, you can always pop over an email and I’ll try my best to answer them for you!

Review Status – OPEN.

What genre of books do you like to read and review?
Listed below, but not limited to:

– Young Adult
– Contemporary Fiction
– Fantasy
– Victorian Fiction
– Biography
– Chick-Lit (not my favourite, so will consider based on blurb)

How quickly will you read my/the book?
If the book belongs to a book tour/event I will always read to the desired date. If no date is given, I will read close to publication and post the review then or in the same week.

What format of book will you accept?
I will accept Kindle format (.mobi) and paperback and hardback for review. Due to my eyesight, I will not review PDF or similar because I struggle to read the font styling.

How do I send you my book/an author’s book?
Please send any information over to my email strawberryglow9@gmail.com and I’ll respond as soon as I can. I’d love it if you could send me a blurb and any other supporting details.

Will you accept self-published authors?
No, I’m afraid not. I’ve had a few unfortunate experiences and as I have to plan my time around reading, I’ve very selective. If you really feel like you want to send me your book, you’re welcome to, but don’t be offended if I say no, or ignore the request.

Will you ever decline a request?
Yes, I will. I don’t want to be harsh, but sometimes I have to say no. I usually reply so you’ll always get a response.

What things do you look for in a request email?

Name – start the email with my name, if you just use the generic ‘hi/hello’ I’m likely to trash the email. It’s rude not to use my name – when it is on most pages of this website and ALL my social networks.
Blurb – please include a blurb and any other supporting information to the email, otherwise, I won’t know what the book is about.

  1. Just discovered your lovely website! Totally agree with you about reading and tea. Sorry you’ve had a few unfortunate experiences with self-published authors, but if you ever change your review policy, please don’t forget my books and all those of fellow ‘indie’ authors. After all, word of mouth is an author’s best friend!

  2. I just discovered your lovely website, as well. And I share with Jenny’s comment, it’s unfortunate about your experiences with self-published authors. Not all of us count for those. I hope one day you’ll change your policy. Who knows? You might discover someone new to like, if you do! Best wishes, Julieann

  3. I love your blog and tweets Clare and I’ve just come on here to see how to ask you to review my novel AJarful of Moondreams. It’s out this month with Octavo, they don’t take just anything, but I suppose it’s essentially self- published. If you ever widen your brief to accept ‘collegiate’ publishing, I’ll send you this contemporary fiction delight over in a trice.
